LHS students compete in prestigious contest

Lorena High School students Emma Erler, Julia Grover, Tia Pettigrew, and Jane Barry received regional recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing contest that included entries from Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisiana. The Scholastic Art and Writing awards are the nation’s longest-running recognition program for creative teens, celebrating artists since the 1920’s.

Erler received a Gold Key award in Art earning automatic entry into the National Scholastic Contest. Only 10% of all artworks submitted from across the country receive this honor. In June medal winners at the National level will be announced. The medal winners will have their work exhibited across the United States.

Erler also received a regional Silver Key award for Art, along with Pettigrew and Barry. Silver Key recognition is given to the top 15% of artwork submitted nationwide. Grover received Honorable Mention for her artwork.
